Our Story
Short for fabric wrap, Fwrap, began life in downtown Oakland in 2007. Fabric gift wrapping is not a new concept, the Japanese have been using scarves and silk fabric for centuries. Called furoshiki, the wrappings are usually tied in intricate designs. Fwrap was inspired by this ancient Japanese art.
Whether you buy Fwrap as gift wrapping, to store something precious or simply because it is earth-friendly, we can also think of other uses for Fwrap.
Fwraps are often used to pass books among friends. When was the last time you told a friend about your latest read and they in turn asked to borrow the book? Now you can pass the book along, and your friend will feel as though theyre getting a gift and also protecting your book. You can even slip a note inside the Fwrap indicating the books next destination and the borrower.
Our Goals, Our Products Fwraps & Book Covers
Fwrap takes gift wrapping a step forward by giving people another option that is elegant, easy and earth-friendly. By choosing Fwrap, you are saying that care was taken, not only in choosing your gift, but also in Fwrapping it. Since 2002, sales of paper gift bags have overtaken paper gift wrap. However, even with paper bags, you still need to buy tissue paper so your present doesnt rattle around in the bag. With Fwraps soft embossed felt, your gift is protected. Designed for easy opening and closing, you can throw it in your luggage and not have to worry about security checks ruining a wrapping. Since each bag comes with a removable gift tag, you dont need to think about also getting a card.
In a society where items are made to be used once and then tossed, we are the worlds leading garbage producer. From Thanksgiving to New Year, we generate an additional five million tons of garbage. By using Fwrap, you will reduce the mounds of crumpled paper and ribbons that are a part of the holiday excess. Our products are American-made with care towards minimizing packaging, which are made from recycled materials. Our fabric comes from the East Coast and we make our products in Oakland, California. We know who we do business with and feel good about our relationships. Recently, weve been using Ecospun, fabric made from recycled PET plastic bottles. The entire Adam Collection will switch to Ecospun as the material becomes available.
Besides Fwraps, we also make book covers in six different sizes - ranging from our Small-Series, especially fitted for series romance readers to covers for composition notebooks. We also make covers which fit many medium-sized Bibles as well as the Alcoholics Anonymous Big Book. Our covers are washable and each arrives with an attached leaf-shaped bookmark.
Jennies Story
I have always enjoyed making people feel special with handmade invitations and gift wrapping. During the holidays, I often make felt gift bags for my friends. Creating Fwrap was an extension of my creative impulses and my "hostess" personality. I still sew the packaging of most retail orders, which is my trademark.
The matching book cover came about because I love to read, and not always high-brow stuff. Though my reading list is varied, I love "trashy novels," especially romances. Unfortunately, some romance books have really risqué covers - some are downright embarrassing to carry around. So, Im a big fan of book covers. When I started working with the designs, I wanted to make a cover for pleasure reading - something classic and simple, nothing quilted, padded or busy. Fwraps book covers are the end result. THANK YOU for your interest in Fwrap. We sincerely appreciate it. Please visit us again when we introduce our next line.
